Airbnb has acquired Montreal-based Luxury
Retreats, a vacation rental company that offers more than 4,000 homes across
100 markets globally. The Luxury Retreats team will maintain its base in
Montreal, and CEO Joe Poulin will lead Airbnb luxury homes, reporting directly
to Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky. Neither company has disclosed the financial terms
of the deal. Airbnb reached a $30 billion valuation in June and is expected to use
some of its capital to pursue more acquisitions, possibly branching into such
areas as group payment, aggregated airfare and guest management, according
to Bloomberg. News of this acquisition comes on the heels of AccorHotels' buy
of Travel Keys.
