AccorHotels reported positive revenue growth during the
third quarter, up 6.4 percent year over year to 504 million euros.
The company continues to see positive revenue from its new
businesses division, which includes FastBooking, Onefinestay, John Paul, Availpro,
VeryChic, Travel
Keys and Squarebreak. New businesses generated 32 million euros in revenue
in the first nine months of 2017.
Accor recently
announced the acquisition of Gekko, which will round out its existing hotel
distribution solutions with a particular slant toward B2B hotel distribution. The
company also will acquire Australia's Mantra
Group of hotels. Other ventures Accor entered into during the quarter
include a partnership with Bouygues Immobilier for the neighborhood-centric,
private social network Nextdoor, as well as a deal with SNCF to develop luxury
hotels under the Orient Express brand.
HotelServices, which comprises Accor's hotel franchisor and
operator business, plus activities related to hotel operations, posted a 3.5
percent year-over-year increase in revenue for the third quarter, to 442 million
euros. Average daily rate across Accor's 4,209 hotels grew 0.5 percent to 88
euros, while occupancy rose 2.9 percentage points to 73.7 percent.
The company opened 73 hotels, or 11,000 rooms,
during the quarter, bringing Accor's portfolio to more than 600,000 rooms. Its
pipeline as of Sept. 30 stood at 992 hotels, or 178,000 rooms.
