Travel industry patriarch Curtis Carlson died on Feb. 19, following a stroke. His passing comes almost a year after he handed the presidency of Carlson Cos. to his daughter Marilyn Carlson Nelson (pictured with him at the ceremony). Carlson started the Gold Bond Stamp Co. during the Great Depression and grew it into a $7.8 billion travel conglomerate that includes Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Radisson Hotels Worldwide, Regent International Hotels, Carlson Marketing Group and TGI Friday's restaurants. BTN extends condolences to the Carlson and Nelson families.
