Amadeus Also Signs Continental To GDS Fee Stopgap

September 26, 2006 - 12:00 AM ET

Amadeus today said it reached an agreement with Continental Airlines to extend the global distribution system's full-content contract with the carrier as the parties work to come to a more comprehensive deal. As such, Amadeus subscribers booking Continental will not be penalized with $3.50 per-segment charges, mimicking a stopgap deal with Northwest announced yesterday (BTNonline, Sept. 25).

"The current content agreement will remain in effect to allow Amadeus and Continental Airlines time to finalize negotiations regarding a long-term content agreement," Amadeus president and CEO Kay Urban told customers in a letter today. "During this extension period, Amadeus customers will not be affected by any surcharge previously announced by the carrier," the letter continued.
