Wyndham Hotel Group will acquire the AmericInn
brand and its management company, Three Rivers Hospitality, for $170 million
from Northcott Hospitality. The Minnesota-based, midscale brand's portfolio
consists of 200 properties, or 11,600 rooms, across 21 states largely in the
Midwest. The deal would bring Wyndham's brand count to 20, adding to its 1,500 midscale
hotels and bolstering its Midwestern presence. WHG president and CEO Geoff
Ballotti called AmericInn a "fantastic tuck-in brand" for the group his
reference to the growing middle class suggested the brand would focus on the
leisure market. "With the global middle class expected to more than double
in the next 10 years, we know investing in the midscale segment allows us to
offer great experiences and value at price points that travelers need and where
they want to be." The group just last month announced
the launch of midscale soft brand The Trademark Hotel Collection.
