Marriott International is testing home rentals in London through its Tribute Portfolio brand. The company is working with London-based property management company Hostmaker to enable a dedicated Tribute Portfolio Homes booking website. Marriott promises that each of its more than 200 home-rental properties features key amenities, including a full kitchen, high-speed Wi-Fi, in-unit laundry, carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, professional cleaning pre- and post-stay, 24-hour check-in and 24/7 support for in-stay issues like lost keys. Although the program is in beta, Marriott Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest members can earn points for Tribute Portfolio Homes bookings and eventually will be able to use points to pay for Tribute Portfolio Homes stays. Marriott's pilot comes on the heels of Airbnb's announcement in February that it plans to create a guest loyalty program, introduce new property categories, segment its inventory and launch special collection listings, such as Airbnb for Work.
