Hyatt Hotels Corp. disclosed that malware has been
discovered on point of sale computers in its hotel system. A company
spokesperson told
Reuters that the malware was found on Nov. 30. Hyatt said it launched an immediate
investigation, consulting with third-party cyber security experts, and it has
since strengthened security. It did not disclose how many of its more than 600
Hyatt-managed properties were affected. The company will provide updates to
consumers on its website. The Hyatt news comes after a spate of similar malware
attacks at
Starwood
Hotels & Resorts and
Hilton
Worldwide that occurred in 2014 and 2015.
