InterContinental To Reimburse Some Checked-Bag Fees

August 24, 2010 - 12:20 PM ET

By Michael B. Baker

InterContinental Hotels Group in September will begin a checked-bag fee reimbursement program for travelers through the end of the year.

The hotel company, which includes its flagship brand alongside Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites, is offering refunds in the form of prepaid Visa cards for any checked-bag fees, up to $850, paid by U.S. travelers staying at any IHG property worldwide. The program largely targets leisure travelers, as users must stay two consecutive weekend nights in order to qualify. Travelers also must pay for their stay with a Visa card. The reimbursement still applies, however, whether the hotel stay is booked directly with IHG or through an online booking tool.

Travelers seeking the reimbursement must submit a rebate form alongside their hotel folio and baggage fee receipts.
