Virgin Atlantic's first-ever domestic U.K. services will include multiple daily flights between London Heathrow and Edinburgh and Aberdeen,

starting April 5 and April 9, respectively. Branded as Little Red, the new services also will include the previously announced Heathrow-Manchester route, starting March 31. In all, Virgin will operate 26 daily flights between Heathrow and three new destinations. Virgin successfully bid for the slots at Heathrow necessary for the new services after the European Commission required British Airways parent IAG to surrender them as a condition for acquiring BMI. "The European Commission recognized that a British Airways monopoly would be undeniably bad for consumers and Little Red will stop British Airways dominating routes and driving higher prices," according to Virgin Atlantic founder and president Richard Branson.
