Avis Rent A Car and Budget Rent A Car are offering electronic receipt options to customers in an effort to ease expense tracking for business travelers. Both brands, part of Parsippany, N.J.-based Avis Budget Car Rental, are providing electronic receipts to customers who provide an e-mail address in their rental profile. The receipts are sent within 24 hours of a vehicle's return.
The two brands process more than 170,000 requests for duplicate receipts each year, which demonstrates the need for the service, according to Robert Lambert, senior vice president of corporate sales at Avis Budget. Paperless is customers' most popular receipt option, he said.
Electronic receipts are not taking the place of paper receipts, however, as customers still will receive their paper receipt upon checkin, according to the company. Travel managers can enroll their company's business travelers to receive the electronic receipts, or the travelers can do so themselves from the brands' respective Web sites.
Meanwhile, Avis Budget officially announced that Avis had enhanced its online tool to allow travel managers to create customized reports and the addition of a sophisticated global positioning system navigation tool at 125 major markets throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico
(BTN, July 17). The GPS systems will be available to renters beginning in August, according to Avis Budget.
