JetBlue has partnered with state and health authorities to open a Covid-19 testing site for both travelers and airline and airport employees at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The Terminal 5 site, which JetBlue opened in partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as well as the NYC Test & Trace Corps, can process up to 600 free, walk-in tests daily. Results are returned within 48 hours on average.
The site is the second free testing location at a New York airport, following one that opened in a garage near LaGuardia Airport's Terminal B a few weeks ago. That site has a capacity of 400 tests per day.
JetBlue also is partnering with NYC Test & Trace Corps to distribute self-test kits to passengers arriving in New York on select domestic flights. Passengers can use those kits to self-test after quarantining upon arrival for three days. Currently, New York is requiring passengers to both take a test at least 72 hours prior to arrival and again on the fourth day after three days of quarantine. A negative result from both allows them to skip the 14-day quarantine period.
