The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration for 24 hours banned U.S. airlines from flying to or from Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport.
The FAA notice at 12:15 p.m. EDT on Tuesday follows "a rocket strike which landed approximately one mile from" the Tel Aviv airport, according to a statement. "Updated instructions will be provided to U.S. airlines as soon as conditions permit, but no later than 24 hours from the time the Notice to Airmen went into force." Delta announced that it has suspended service to the airport "until further notice." Some European airlines also have suspended service, according to published reports.
