Enterprise Rent-A-Car topped the J.D. Power and Associates 2012 North America rental car survey,
based on 12,100 evaluations from business and leisure travelers. Overall satisfaction among rental customers rose for a third consecutive year, averaging 769 on J.D. Power's 1,000-point scale, up from 758 in 2011. Behind Enterprise Rent-A-Car (804), Enterprise-owned brands National (788) and Alamo (773) rounded out the top three. Hertz (771) placed above the average, while Avis (766), Budget (753), Dollar (738) and last year's first-place finisher Ace Rent A Car (736) were rated below. Advantage (711), Payless (708) and Fox Rent A Car (669) fell to the bottom. Fielded between October 2011 and August 2012, J.D. Power's survey asked travelers who recently had rented a car at an airport location to rate their experience in six weighted categories: cost, pick-up process, return process, vehicles, shuttle services and reservations.
