AirTran Postpones Midwest Takeover Deadline

AirTran Airways today once again pushed back its deadline for Midwest Airlines shareholders to accept its hostile takeover bid for the carrier, this time from March 8 to April 11.

AirTran in a statement today said it extended the offer so “Midwest's shareholders can receive all the information they need.” Throughout AirTran’s bid, which began late last year, Midwest’s management team and board of directors continually have said they were committed to maintaining operations as a stand-alone carrier.
