InterContinental Hotels Group president of the Americas
region Jim Abrahamson has left the company to lead hotel management company Interstate
Hotels & Resorts. Abrahamson now is president and COO of Interstate, which
manages 334 hotels across nine countries, mostly in the United States. By
year-end, he will become CEO and current CEO Thomas Hewitt will become
chairman, according to Interstate.
Abrahamson joined IHG as the Americas president in early
2009. He previously had led development in the Americas for Global Hyatt Corp.
IHG president of Europe, the Middle East and Africa Kirk
Kinsell has replaced Abrahamson as president of the Americas region. Paul
Edgecliffe-Johnson, who is CFO of the EMEA region and head of development for
Europe, will lead that region until the company finds a long-term replacement,
according to IHG.
