Amadeus has developed a product designed to help agencies
monitor negotiated hotel rates, evaluate compliance and integrate data from
hotels booked outside of global distribution systems.
The Amadeus Hotel Optimization package includes a multi-GDS
tool designed to help agencies and buyers compare negotiated rates to public
rates, spot rate squatters and ensure that last-room availability agreements
are honored. The product also includes Amadeus LinkHotel, which integrates more
than 6,000 hotels that are not on any GDS, and also integrates such hotel
aggregator content as Transhotel and Destinations of the World, which Amadeus
added into its system last year.
Carlson Wagonlit Travel, which last summer launched its own central reservations platform to integrate data from hotels not available in GDS
channels, estimated that about 50 percent of combined hotel bookings in Europe,
the Middle East and Africa are for non-GDS properties.
Amadeus head of hotel distribution Hugo Ehrnreich said in a
statement that the product fulfills agents' need for "greater visibility
and control to efficiently source and sell more hotel content from disparate,
multiple sources." He added: "Current
fragmented and labor-intensive processes across multiple hotel shopping systems
are unsustainable both from a profit and customer service perspective."
