Sabre in December cut its workforce by several hundred
as it manages "conservatively ... to ensure future investments and the long-term health of our business. We've worked diligently to identify other cost savings that have minimal impact" on customers and employees, according to a spokesman. "We always look at our cost structure and use our scale to gain advantage. In some areas, we sized our team with the realities of the 2009 economic environment in mind." The company has about 9,000 employees.
