AMR Corp. lost $1.4 billion during the second quarter
American Airlines parent . Excluding special charges, the company's net loss was $284 million versus a net profit of $317 million a year earlier. Passenger revenue increased 5 percent to $5.4 billion but fuel costs jumped by $838 million. AMR said it will hold off on its planned divestiture of regional affiliate American Eagle "until industry conditions are more stable and favorable."
