GetThere on Monday announced that users of its mobile
service can book new hotel reservations via iPhone, BlackBerry and Android
devices, and separately launched a preferred network of ground transportation
providers offering discounted rates.
The mobile hotel-reservation service includes corporate
policies and preferences and provides map-based hotel listings. GetThere
indicated that future hotel functionality would include reservation
modifications and changes, and noted that shopping and booking of air flights
via mobile devices would be offered "later this year."
Meanwhile, the ground transportation service initially
enables bookings with Carey, Dav El, EmpireCLS, International Limos, Super
Shuttle, TriStar Worldwide, Wynne Limo and others. According to GetThere,
managed travel customers "will realize an 8 percent to 10 percent savings."
