Newly Merged Delta Settling Management Team
Delta Air Lines on Friday announced some key appointments to its management team following the U.S. Department of Justice's final approval last week of its merger agreement with Northwest Airlines.
Joining the previously announced executive team headed by Delta CEO Richard Anderson and Delta president Ed Bastian, Steve Gorman adopts the COO role, expanding his nearly one-year tenure at Delta as executive vice president of operations. Delta in a memo said Gorman will "lead all aspects of Delta's operational performance." Meanwhile, 10-year Delta alum Hank Halter will take the role of CFO.
Though the appointments are top-heavy with Delta alums—with the majority of C-level staff hailing from the Atlanta-based carrier—several Northwest personnel also are assuming corporate travel buyer-facing positions.
Northwest Airlines alum Jim Cron will take on the senior vice president of global sales and distribution role formerly held by Delta's Pam Elledge. Meanwhile, the carrier promoted Delta alum Tim Mapes from director of marketing to senior vice president of marketing.
Delta said it expects full integration of the two companies to be completed in one to two years.
