Demonstrating
the continued strength of corporate travel relative to other segments, ARC this
week reported that mega agency transaction growth in June surpassed the overall
growth rate for all agencies.
Mega agency transactions grew by more than 14 percent in June, compared with
the same period last year, while the total growth rate in transactions for all
agency segments grew only 5 percent. Online agencies registered a June
transaction growth rate of less than 3 percent year over year.
The mega agency transaction growth in June, however, was slightly below the 15
percent year-over-year growth rate posted in May. Total ARC sales last month
hit nearly $7 billion, compared with the $5.7 billion in sales reported for
June 2009.
