Total travel agency
sales last month grew more than 14 percent over July 2009, while the number of
transactions climbed more than 3 percent, ARC reported Thursday. The rate of
year-over-year growth in July slowed from June, when agency sales surged nearly
22 percent and transactions grew 5 percent.
ARC sales last month
totaled nearly $6.5 billion, marking the
seventh consecutive month of year-over-year growth and easily surpassing July
2009's $5.7 billion. Total sales, however, did
not best July 2008's $6.8 billion or July 2007's more than $6.5 billion.
The more
than 12.2 million ARC transactions processed in July were higher than the 11.9
million processed in July 2008, but still behind the 12.7 million from 2007.
