ARC today reported total agency sales in March increased nearly 30 percent over the same period last year and even rivaled total sales through the agency channel for the same month in 2007.

ARC said today's data builds on a recovery born in November 2009, which continued through the first quarter this year, as total sales were up 19 percent compared with the first three months of 2009.

Overall agency sales in March reached $7.598 billion, which bested March 2008's $7.593 billion but fell shy of the $7.7 billion total transaction volume reached in March 2007. ARC director of strategic communications Allan Mutén added that a sneak peak at some advance summer data shows further evidence of rebounding agency sales.

ARC president and CEO David Collins in a statement today said the "strong sales and transaction volume is a testament to the strength and resilience of the agency sales channel."
