Travelocity Business To Expand To Asia/Pacific

October 22, 2007 - 12:00 AM ET

Travelocity Business today at the Association of Corporate Travel Executives Global Education Conference in Munich announced the rollout of travel management service for existing clients in some parts of the Asia/Pacific region.

The travel management company will begin service in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan in early November and plans to launch service in other undisclosed Asia/Pacific locations in early 2008, according to Travelocity Business president Lesley Harris.

Initially, the travel management company will not pursue corporations based in the region. Travelocity-owned Zuji will handle in-country fulfillment and support including reporting, in-country quality control, ticket changes and offline service though a regional call center.

Harris said the regional service offering was client-driven, and she expects online adoption to rise at a faster pace than in Europe, where Travelocity Business launched service in early 2006. "We are seeing more interest than we expected with the online strategy in those countries and it will move faster than in the European countries," she said.
