New York - As Dale Moss settles into London as British Airways' highest-ranking American and director of worldwide sales, his replacement to run the sales and marketing operation in the United States is due to arrive here this week.

Dan Brewin, a Brit who most recently ran BA's U.K. and Ireland sales out of London, will become executive vice president of sales and marketing for the USA. BA's senior vice president of sales for the USA, Pat Terrion, had been the airline's top U.S. sales executive since Moss' departure in October (BTN, Oct. 5, 1998). Terrion will report to Brewin and continue to manage overall sales in the United States.

Brewin, who will report to John Wood, director of the Americas, joined BA in 1988 and has had a 30-year career in civil aviation, including stints at British European Airways, Manchester Airport and British Caledonian.

"I've known Dan for years and he's an excellent airline manager," said BA's chief executive Robert Ayling last week in New York. "He comes from the north of England--they're very friendly up there. I'm sure he'll be a terrific success in the States."

Brewin holds a degree from the University of Salford and an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management. He was president of the Institute of Travel and Tourism from 1991 to 1993. In a press statement, he said he is "delighted to take on this new role.
