The American Society of Travel Agents today announced the resignation of CEO William Maloney, effective immediately.
A replacement search has begun, and ASTA president and chair Chris Russo will handle some CEO responsibilities until a replacement is named, according to a spokesperson. Russo is based in Broomfield, Colo., where he owns and operates the Travel Partners travel agency.
The spokesperson also said Maloney notified ASTA of his decision to leave this morning. Maloney has been ASTA CEO since 1999. Previously, he was Hertz vice president of travel industry sales.
