New StarCite CEO To Fine-Tune Strategy

July 16, 2008 - 12:00 AM ET

Meetings management technology company StarCite today announced the appointment of Greg Dukat, formerly head of asset management software firm Ventyx, as CEO. Dukat, who started in the role yesterday, replaced former president and CEO Michael Boult, who left the company in March (BTNonline, March 3).

Dukat said StarCite would focus on expanding its presence in large companies as well as providing solutions for smaller meetings.

"Our strategy will not be a major shift, but a fine-tuning of what we're already on the path of," Dukat said. "Our perception, and the research we've done on our customers, is in many cases we're used in a part of the organization at a large company that has many large meetings, but there are other areas of that company that we haven't gotten to."

He added, "A lot of our initiatives now are providing solutions and adding to our solutions to accommodate smaller meetings both for large and medium-size companies."

Dukat said he would not close the door on other options, including taking the company public.

"I do have public company experience and I certainly understand that part of the marketplace. I'm sure that's one of the reasons why I was selected by the board as a candidate," he said. "It gives us alternatives. If the right answer for our shareholders is to go public, then we'll be certainly prepared to do that."
