US Airways in March 2013 plans to launch daily nonstop service between Charlotte and London Heathrow. The carrier secured slots that British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia agreed to relinquish to win European Commission approval of their antitrust-immune joint venture. US Airways indicated the new service would originate in Miami, "offering customers in South Florida convenient one-stop service to London via the airline's Charlotte hub."
