Hotels in several major European cities saw room rate growth
in July, while London hotels reached record occupancy levels, according to the
HotStats European Chain Hotels Market Review released on Monday by TRI
Hospitality Consulting.
London's hotel occupancy reached 94.1 percent in July, and the
city's average daily rate increased by 23.6 percent to 206.24, its highest rate
since November 2007, according to the report.
"The achievement is particularly impressive considering
that our data is recorded from a sample of almost 50 hotels in London,"
TRI managing director Jonathan Langston said in a statement. "Although
some hotels would undoubtedly have achieved below-average room occupancy
levels, it is conceivable that a number of hotels in our sample achieved a room
occupancy closer to 100 percent."
Berlin and Vienna also had significant rate increases during
the month, up 17.6 percent and 15.6 percent, respectively. Rates rose 10.4
percent in Hamburg, 6.8 percent in Zurich, 6.7 percent in Amsterdam and 5.9
percent in Paris.
Rates declined, however, in Rome, Prague and Budapest during
July, according to TRI.
